Last week, Paris Video Tech held the 11th edition of its quarterly meetup at the headquarters of France Télévisions. Featuring an eclectic lineup, we rang in the new year with an English-language event that covered parts of the video workflow that were new to many members of our group.
Eurosport Technology Transformation
Gordon Castle, SVP Operations and Technology at Eurosport, kicked off the evening with an overview of the technology transformation that he is leading in the live production workflow: from remote production to a common content hub for digital and linear platforms to automation on the public cloud.
Detecting TV Commercials via Machine Learning
Adrien Biarnès, Machine Learning Engineer at Realytics, then gave us an in-depth look at how to detect an identify TV spots. Starting off looking at how to detect commercials via audio fingerprinting, Adrien then dove into how to identify unknown ads by splitting the stream, classifying content as commercial or non-commercial via different machine learning algorithms and finding the brand & product.
